Multidimensional research on university engagement using a mixed method approach

The commitment or academic implication (engagement) of universitystudents has become a fundamental element for their welfare and academicperformance and, furthermore, it is also related to professional futureand social commitment. For this reason, the definition concept theprovision assessment strategies tools are essential know learningexperiences that lead enhancing involvement students.To develop our research, we have used mixed quantitative qualitativemethodology: exploratory confirmatory factor analysis on one hand,and discussion groups using nominal technique other hand.We set three different objectives: first, delve into multidimensionalmodel construct; second, validate questionnaire allows forevaluation students’ perception learning methodologies inthe classroom; third, check manageability groupsas qualitative method analysis. results demonstrate newproposal provides statistically valid instrument aimed at determining theperceptions own engagement an effective, efficient motivatingqualitative students. However, regarding multidimensionalityof construct, contrary more accepted theoretical point view thatconsiders dimensions (behaviour, cognition emotion),our only reveal two (cognitive-emotional behavioural).In comments section give possible explanations thiscontradiction.
